The project consists of a 1.94 million square foot, 900± bed expansion and addition to the Chandler Patient Care Facility on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington, Kentucky, and includes enabling packages, core and shell construction, and interior fit-out. Four patient towers ranging from 11 to 15 stories with adult and pediatric care units are constructed in a pinwheel configuration over a podium that houses laboratory space, operating rooms and an expanded emergency department. Two of the towers feature near-40-footcantilever of stories above the 4th level. Structural steel framing is used for the towers, with cast in place concrete framing for the podium. The new building interacts with the existing hospital building and is constructed over significant underground utilities.
