"I grew up in Dublin, Georgia. I picked up two associate degrees from Southern Tech, now a part of Kennesaw State University, before heading to Kentucky, where I worked and majored in structural engineering at the University of Kentucky, graduating in 1966. I played football in high school, and basketball and fast-pitch softball during the early years in Lexington. My family sport growing up was fox hunting, and I continued that sport after moving to Kentucky, judging fox hounds in field trials from horseback. A lifelong interest in horses and riding led me into breeding and racing thoroughbreds. Skiing became a passion, which took me to many of the venues out West and eventually to Lake Louise and Chateau Lake Louise, where my wife and I have made many winter trips throughout the years.”  - Terry        

 

About Terry

Terry began his career in structural engineering with J. Stephen Watkins Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1958. In 1966, Terry joined G. Reynolds Watkins, Consulting Engineers, Inc. as the structural engineer. His project types included interstate highway and water supply/sewerage structures. Terry was a pioneer in stacked onsite-cast wall panels. In 1972, Terry served as CEO and participated in forming Coleman, Hall, McKnight & Simmons, which provided architectural and engineering services. Municipal and state projects included parking structures, the LFUCG sewerage system, the Fort Boonesborough State Park Fort and improvements, and the Kentucky State Police barracks. In 1997, Terry made a career change to general contracting and horse farm owner, including racing. His projects included Midway College Pinkerton-Rouse House Historical Restoration, college soccer field and irrigation, riding arena, horse farm and other structures, wetland sewerage treatment facilities, and casualty restoration. He retired in 1995.
 

Terry’s first attempt at retirement ended after about two years, when he joined BK in 1997. His project types include renovation/restoration of concrete and forensic structural engineering. His hands-on construction experience often helps him discover an appropriate remedy for an unusual condition. His status as of 2019 is retired-on call.
