A new 2-story middle school for Fayette County Public Schools that serves up to 1,200 students, providing a modern learning environment for generations to come. The building features offices, classrooms, media center, cafeteria, gymnasium, and an ICC-500 rated tornado shelter, designed for 250 mph wind loads, with sufficient space to protect all facility occupants.

The facility was constructed using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) at the exterior walls to provide structural bearing and lateral capacity while ensuring a thermally tight building envelope. Elevated floor construction utilized precast hollow-core planks, eliminating the need for dropped down beams in most classroom spaces. This floor system provided ample ceiling space for MEP systems and allowed for rapid on-site installation of the
elevated floor structure. Structurally cost-efficient steel bar joists formed the typical roof construction, enabling dramatic architectural roof lines when viewed from the exterior, all while respecting the project budget.
