PROJECT FACTS

Design Build

Tasked by a distiller to solve the issues of current rickhouse construction, Koetter Construction teamed with Brown + Kubican to design a code-compliant and safety conscientious building to house one of Kentucky’s most valuable commodities.  With over 56,000 barrels covering 40,000 square feet and weighing over 30 million pounds, this 7-level rickhouse has approximately 74,000 individual pieces and 45,000 joints.

Milled glulam wood construction with engineered connections represents the next generation in barrel storage.  Modular construction allows the rickhouse system to be quickly erected and scalability for small to large barrel storage requirements.
