A new 4-story high school for Scott County Schools Features of the facility include distinct clusters for gymnasium, cafeteria, library, and classrooms. The building was situated into an existing hillside and cut through in-situ fill for best use of the site and to minimize earthwork costs.
Due to its size, floor and roof structures utilized fire rated assemblies. The facility predominantly utilizes precast concrete hollow core plank and composite steel beam floor assemblies supported by a combination of concrete masonry bearing walls and steel frame. The roof structure utilizes fireproofed steel beams and unprotected long-span steel joist where clear height exceeds 20 feet. The gymnasium utilized a combination of long-span
steel joist and heavy timber supported by a ring of structural steel trusses. The lateral bracing system utilizes reinforced masonry shear walls.
