Job Description
Structural engineer familiar with historic to modern building structural systems to manage, investigate, evaluate, and design remediation for damaged or deteriorated structures. Engineer must be able to independently investigate and gather field data related to the structure (products, conditions, and dimensions), understand and utilize modern evaluation techniques such as petrography and LIDAR, and author technical reports. Technical writing ability with good organization and easy-to-understand verbage is required. Engineer to be proficient with analysis (by hand calculation and commercial software) to evaluate strength and serviceability of timber, steel, masonry, and concrete systems. Will work directly with clients as a liaison to our firm’s Principals, with assistance from support engineers and drafting technicians to develop construction documents for repairs and remediation, review shop drawings, and review contractor’s work during construction. Must maintain a professional engineering license. Projects are predominantly located in-state.
Job Requirements
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
+ Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design of building structures
+ Professional Engineer Registration
+ Engineering design skills in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber
+ Familiar with design codes
+ Proficient computer skills
+ Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
+ Valid driver’s license
+ Physical dexterity with ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, ascend/descend ladders and scaffolding, balance, kneel and crouch
