The EKU Burrier Main Tower underwent a visual assessment to evaluate the condition of its cast-in-place concrete facade, revealing numerous spalls and areas of deterioration primarily caused by inadequate concrete cover, leading to corrosion of the reinforcing steel. The assessment highlighted the urgent need for repairs to prevent potential hazards from falling debris, with recommendations including concrete patching, reinforcement repairs, and protective weatherproofing. A complete renovation of the facade was also suggested to ensure long-term structural stability.
BK was awarded the Burrier Main Tower repair project as Prime Professional and conducted a thorough assessment and remediation of the deteriorating facade, which has experienced concrete spalling and corrosion due to insufficient concrete cover and weather exposure. The recommended repairs include removing loose concrete, patching damaged areas, and applying a weatherproofing membrane to prevent further deterioration. BK also explored alternative facade cladding options in collaboration with our consultants to enhance
moisture control, insulation, and aesthetics.
