The new Walton Branch of the Boone County Public Library (BCPL) offers a wide range of community-focused spaces, including a maker space innovation lab, internet café, children’s play areas, and a family activity center. Visitors can enjoy cozy reading nooks, lounge areas, and computer stations, while the branch also provides meeting and learning spaces such as a conference room, multipurpose room, and staff workroom. An outdoor courtyard extends the library experience beyond the building, while also being equipped with rooftop solar panels to support sustainability.
This facility uses steel framed construction founded on rock bearing foundations. Braced frames provide lateral stability. The architect introduced rotations into the building, while still allowing two orthogonal grid systems that allowed for a cost-effective and simple structure to be utilized in a visually interesting way.
