Arlington Elementary School, located on North Limestone in Lexington, was renovated and increased in size in 2009.  The addition replaced three previous additions that had many problems, including masonry disrepair, weak floor structures and multiple floor elevations that were not ADA compliant.  It included a new cafeteria, new gymnasium, new classrooms, new offices, a new media center and an enhanced entry with a drop off canopy.

The $11.0 M project was constructed with composite steel decking on steel beams (floor), steel decking on steel joists (roof) and a concrete slab on grade at ground level.  The floors and roof were supported on reinforced load-bearing concrete masonry walls which bear on soil bearing reinforced concrete spread footings.
