APPALACHIAN WIRELESS HEADQUARTERS
PROJECT FACTS
New 2-story office building with approximately 13,500 sq ft per floor. It is a steel frame structure with LH-series steel bar joist inset into the girder web at the second floor framing and steel beam/K-series steel bar joist at the roof framing. The lateral bracing system consists of steel moment frames. The structure is founded on concrete grade beams and drilled piers on bedrock.
The building architecture utilizes a combination of geometrical pods to form the building. The main office incorporates a sloping roof that projects above to form clearstory windows. The second floor boardroom is accessed by a enclosed bridge. The boardroom structure consists of a cast-in-place concrete flat slab supported on three concrete columns. A vehicular drop-off canopy constructed of cantilevered concrete slab is constructed monolithic with the boardroom floor structure.
